Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has strongly denied reports claiming that security was withdrawn from former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
Speaking to reporters at the Islamabad High Court, Afridi termed the news “a lie” and accused some quarters of trying to stay relevant in the media. The clarification comes amid controversy over Gandapur’s security arrangements in Dera Ismail Khan.
During his media talk at the Islamabad High Court, Sohail Afridi responded directly to questions about the alleged withdrawal of security from Ali Amin Gandapur.
“This is a lie. No security has been withdrawn from anyone,” the CM said. He added that he neither withdrew security nor had time for such matters.
“I am not so relieved that I will withdraw security,” Afridi remarked, dismissing the reports as baseless.
Focus on PTI founder’s health, release
The KP chief minister emphasized that the real priority for all should be the health and release of PTI Founder Imran Khan.
“Our priority is the release and health of the founder of PTI,” Afridi stated. He added that if someone wants to turn a non-issue into an issue just to remain in the news, there is little that can be said.
DI Khan police releases security details
Amid the controversy, DI Khan Police also issued a formal statement detailing the security arrangements for Ali Amin Gandapur. According to the police, a total of 77 personnel have been deployed for his security.
The breakdown includes 58 personnel from the Security Wing, 12 from the FRP (Frontier Reserve Police), and seven regular police officials.
The release of the list aims to address concerns and clarify that security arrangements for the former chief minister remain intact.
The development underscores the political sensitivity surrounding security matters, even as provincial authorities insist that no changes have been made.
