The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority spoke said protection of consumers in matters of mobile tariffs, quality of service and unauthorised deductions remained a priority, adding that mobile data prices in Pakistan were the lowest in the region.
According to an official statement, the Mobile Tariff Regulations 2025 were enforced to establish a fair and organised tariff framework. Operators holding significant market power are bound to obtain prior approval before any change in tariffs, while other operators may set tariffs on commercial grounds.
The statement said that if any tariff was found to be against the interests of consumers, the authority could intervene. Mobile operators have been directed to obtain the consent of users before activating any value-added service. Consumers were also advised to check their active subscriptions regularly through the operator’s application.
The PTA stated that the average revenue per user in Pakistan was the lowest in the region. It reiterated that mobile data prices in the country were the cheapest, and said spectrum auction remained a vital component for improving service quality. The induction of new spectrum would lead to better network quality, wider coverage and faster data speeds.
