The Suthra Punjab Authority has introduced an Anti-Littering Force in Lahore to improve the city’s sanitation system.
According to officials, a fleet of 25 motorcycles has been provided in the initial phase for the Anti-Littering Squad. The Suthra Punjab Authority director general, Babar Sahib Din, said 12 teams of the Anti-Littering Squad have formally commenced field surveillance and are monitoring various markets and main roads across the city.
He said that, in the first instance, those found littering are being issued warnings. However, regular fines will be imposed after 15 days. Strict action will be taken against individuals who throw or burn waste.
The director general said shopkeepers placing rubbish outside their shops will first be served notices, after which fines will be imposed.
He made it clear that an FIR will be registered against those who continue to violate the rules despite being fined.
