The Punjab Home Department has issued an updated list of banned organizations and unregistered charities, urging citizens not to give Zakat, charity or donations to proscribed groups.
Officials warned that providing any form of support to banned organizations is a criminal offense under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.
In an official statement, the Punjab Home Department said that those who support banned organizations involved in terrorism and anti-state activities will face legal action.
“It is a crime to provide any kind of support to banned organizations under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997,” the department said.
Citizens have been advised to ensure that their financial assistance reaches rightful beneficiaries rather than individuals or groups involved in extremist activities.
Registration mandatory for charities
The spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department clarified that registration with the Punjab Charity Commission is mandatory for all charities operating in the province. Citizens are encouraged to verify the registration status of organizations before making donations.
The list of banned organizations is available on the official websites of the Punjab Home Department and the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
Authorities have also provided contact details for public assistance. Reports of donations being collected by banned organizations can be made through the toll-free number 0800-11111 or helpline 042-99213871.
