Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi on Sunday ordered a full crackdown on those involved in money laundering.
He also directed the authorities to take action against agents involved in human smuggling and against the counterfeit medicines mafia.
Naqvi visited the FIA Karachi Zone, where he ordered decisive action against the money laundering mafia. He said major money launderers must be targeted and their complete money trails exposed. He said hawala and hundi were unacceptable under any circumstances and that action against those involved in illegal money transfers must be visible and without discrimination.
Addressing a meeting, the interior minister directed that those involved in human smuggling and the trade in fake medicines be brought within the ambit of the law. He said those who deceive innocent people and send them abroad illegally did not deserve any leniency. He ordered action against the mafia without yielding to any pressure. He said those dealing in counterfeit medicines were playing with human lives and must also face the law.
In a message posted on social media platform X, Naqvi said pre-departure facilitation desks had been set up at all FIA zonal offices. He said the desks would provide guidance and assistance to international passengers on immigration procedures and help ensure hassle-free travel.
He said the facilitation desks were accessible through helplines and email. Their details, he added, were available at airports, border points and on the FIA website.
