The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) said on Wednesday that 2,146 cases involving cybercrime, online fraud, data theft and other serious offences were examined during the year.
The NCCIA has reported a 36 per cent decline in cyber financial crimes during 2025, according to its annual performance report. An amount of Rs461 million was recovered from suspects involved in cyber fraud and financial scams.
During 2025, a total of 46,056 bank accounts and digital wallets were frozen. The NCCIA also launched Operation Brown against online child exploitation. As part of the operation, 35 cases were registered and suspects were taken into custody.
The report added that more than 300 officers from law enforcement agencies received training in cyber investigation techniques. Awareness campaigns on online and financial fraud reached two million people across the country.
