Samsung has released the second beta of One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S25 series, widening access to more regions. The update focuses on stability improvements while laying the groundwork for the public release expected in early 2026.
Samsung launched the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series at the beginning of the month. Initially, it was limited to users in South Korea, Germany, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
With the rollout of the second beta build, identified as ZYLH, Samsung has expanded eligibility. Galaxy S25 users in India and Poland can now join the beta program via the Samsung Members app.
In previously eligible regions, the update is arriving as the second beta build. The firmware has a download size of around 1,143MB.

Built on Android 16 QPR2
A First for Samsung
One UI 8.5 is still based on Android 16 but is built on the Android 16 Quarterly Platform Release 2 (QPR2).
This marks the first time Samsung, or any other Android manufacturer, has based its custom skin on a major Android quarterly update.
Performance and Customization Improvements
Android 16 QPR2 introduces performance optimizations, efficiency improvements, and additional customization options.
Samsung is expected to further enhance these features through One UI 8.5.
Public Release Timeline
Although the beta program began in early December, One UI 8.5 is still a few months away from a stable release.
Samsung is expected to roll out the public version in late February or March, likely alongside the launch of the Galaxy S26 series.
