Fans of the cult classic 3 Idiots have reason to celebrate as director Rajkumar Hirani gears up for the much-awaited sequel.
Reports suggest the working title of the next installment is ‘4 Idiots’, hinting at an exciting twist for the iconic franchise.
Sources close to the project told Pinkvilla that the sequel will introduce a fourth core character, possibly a superstar, alongside the returning trio.
“The script is currently being developed under a tentative title, 4 Idiots. While this title may change, the makers are actively scouting for a fourth idiot to expand the franchise,” the insider revealed.
Script and storyline updates
The upcoming film will continue the story from the 2009 original but promises new elements to justify the addition of the fourth character.
“The writing process is underway, and the team wants to ensure it gets bigger and better while maintaining the charm and humor fans loved in the first part,” the source added.
3 Idiots, starring Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, and Kareena Kapoor Khan, became a cultural phenomenon and grossed over ₹200 crore at the box office.
Fans can expect the original trio to reprise their roles, with the new addition bringing a fresh dynamic to the story.
