Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with his Omani counterpart, Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi, during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to international law governing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, Arab media reported.
According to Al Jazeera, citing the Oman News Agency, the two ministers stressed that maritime traffic through the strategic waterway would continue in accordance with international laws and regulations.
The discussion came as the United States and Iran prepare to sign a memorandum of understanding later this week.
During the call, both leaders reiterated their countries’ commitment to ensuring the safe and free passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz under internationally recognised legal frameworks.
They also expressed hope that the coming period would witness serious and sustained efforts by all parties to support an effective political and diplomatic process, while preserving security and stability across the region.
