Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the Iran-US peace agreement, describing it as a historic milestone that marks the end of a long period of conflict and uncertainty.
Addressing the National Assembly, the prime minister said the world had entered a new chapter of peace after the United States and Iran announced the cessation of military operations on all fronts.
Speaking during the National Assembly session, Shehbaz Sharif thanked God for what he described as a historic achievement for global peace.
“After the dark night of war, the sun of peace has risen,” the prime minister said.

He noted that Iran and the United States had announced the end of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, calling it a major diplomatic breakthrough.
Pakistan to host signing ceremony in Geneva
The premier announced that the formal ceremony for the historic agreement will be held in Geneva on June 19, with Pakistan serving as the host. He said the agreement represents a significant success not only for the region but for the entire international community.
“I sincerely congratulate the people of Pakistan and the international community on this achievement,” he told lawmakers.
Shehbaz acknowledged the support and guidance he received throughout the diplomatic process. He expressed special gratitude to Nawaz Sharif, saying his guidance remained a source of strength throughout the negotiations.

The prime minister also congratulated Asif Ali Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Abdul Aleem Khan, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Khalid Magsi for their support and leadership.
International leaders thanked for cooperation
The prime minister extended congratulations to US President Donald Trump and Iran’s Supreme Leader for their roles in advancing the peace process. He said the Iranian leadership had remained patient despite difficult circumstances.
PM Shehbaz also thanked the Emir of Qatar, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, the presidents of China and Türkiye, and other international partners who contributed to the peace effort.
According to the prime minister, China’s support played an important role in moving the peace process forward.
‘Field Marshal Asim Munir played extraordinary role’
A significant portion of the prime minister’s speech focused on the role of Field Marshal Asim Munir. He said the field marshal dedicated his days and nights to extinguishing the flames of war and worked tirelessly to achieve peace.
“There were many ups and downs during the negotiations, but the great son of Pakistan never lost heart,” he said.
The prime minister stated that the ceasefire announced a day earlier was the result of sustained diplomatic efforts and that Field Marshal Asim Munir played an extraordinary role in bringing the parties closer to an agreement.
He added that the entire nation pays tribute to him for his efforts.
The PM also expressed heartfelt appreciation for Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. He said Dar worked day and night and played a full role in advancing peace efforts throughout the negotiations.
Shehbaz also thanked Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for his contributions during the process. In addition, he paid tribute to Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amir Moqaddam, who was present in the National Assembly during the speech.
Economic benefits to reach every Pakistani
The prime minister said the conflict had placed immense pressure on Pakistan’s economy and created concerns over inflation and economic stability.
He praised the Pakistani people for supporting the government during the challenging period and said every possible effort had been made to protect citizens from the effects of rising prices.
According to the premier, improving global economic conditions following the peace agreement will ultimately benefit Pakistan.
“The fruits of this peace agreement will reach every Pakistani,” he said.
He added that the government is committed to ensuring that the economic benefits of peace and stability are passed on to the public.
