The matter of privatising the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), has reached its final stage, with finance and HR experts from all four consortiums having obtained complete records from the PIA.
According to details surfaced on Wednesday, all consortiums will submit their bids on December 23. In Karachi, officials from all four consortiums met with the PIA CEO and other executives. The consortiums were provided with detailed records, which show that PIA currently operates 34 aircraft and serves more than 90 routes.
The total number of employees stood at approximately 7,000. Details of the PIA’s daily revenue from domestic and international routes were also shared with the consortiums.
Information regarding pilots, aircraft engineers, cabin crew, ground staff, administrative officers, and retired employees was provided. Sources divulged that the pensions of retired employees will not be the responsibility of the consortium that acquires the PIA.
For the privatisation process, the bids will be broadcast directly in the media under a transparent procedure.
