Security forces carried out two major intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing nine Indian-backed terrorists, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.
The actions, conducted in Tank and Lakki Marwat, come as part of the ongoing nationwide counterterrorism campaign.
Seven killed in heavy clash in Tank
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces launched an operation in Tank after tracing a terrorist hideout through credible intelligence. A fierce exchange of fire erupted, during which seven terrorists were killed.
ISPR said the militants were Indian-backed and involved in multiple attacks targeting security forces, law enforcement agencies and innocent civilians.
A large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the site.
Lakki Marwat operation eliminates two
In a second operation of the same nature in Lakki Marwat, security forces killed two additional terrorists. ISPR confirmed that these terrorists were also Indian-backed and involved in sabotage activities across the region.
Clearance operations remain underway to locate any remaining militants and secure the area.
The military reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces are determined to eradicate terrorism in all its forms and stabilize the province through sustained, full-scale counterterrorism efforts.
PM Shehbaz, President Zardari commend security forces
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated security forces on the successful operations, praising their “great successes” in the fight against terrorism. He said the entire nation stands with the Pakistan Army and reaffirmed the state’s determination to eliminate all types of terrorism.
President Asif Ali Zardari also paid tribute, commending the security forces’ timely and effective actions. He saluted the sacrifices of martyrs and ghazis, stressing that the resolve of the nation and its forces would continue “until the end of the sedition.”
Interior minister lauds professionalism, courage
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi applauded the security forces for killing nine militants through swift and professional action. He said he took pride in their courage and effectiveness, noting that they had successfully thwarted the nefarious intentions of the Indian-backed Khawarij.
Naqvi added that security forces are achieving significant successes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and remain deeply committed to establishing lasting peace across the province.
