Famed Pakistani singer Atif Aslam has finally addressed long-standing claims that he demands massive fees to appear on TV programs and podcasts.
In a recent interview, the singer opened up about the speculation and spoke candidly about fame, expectations, and changing attitudes in the industry.
Atif Aslam acknowledged that he is aware of people claiming he charges heavy amounts to sit for interviews. However, he dismissed such chatter, saying it often reflects the intentions of those making the claims rather than any truth behind them.
According to him, “If someone says I charge a huge fee, it simply means they want to invite me to their show.” He added that such talk sometimes appears designed to portray him as arrogant or inaccessible.
Speaking about his journey, Atif said he learned to “conquer the world” at just 18. He credited his massive fan base for the success he enjoys today, calling their support his “true wealth.”
He shared that, like many young artists, he once dreamt of performing at big venues and selling music—milestones he reached early in his career. But with success, he said, comes the realization that achieving more is part of both ambition and enjoyment, not just competition.
Why he doesn’t attend every show
The singer explained that he does not feel the need to appear on every program. Sometimes, he simply does not have the time; other times, unavoidable commitments or personal challenges prevent him from participating.
He stressed that there is no shame in turning down appearances and that he chooses not to respond to individuals who publicly question his compensation.
Without naming anyone, Atif added that he has noticed a shift in people’s behavior. He said many remain polite only until their show or interview is completed, hinting at superficial attitudes behind the scenes.
“I know these people inside out,” he remarked, suggesting that experience has taught him to recognize insincerity.
