Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) social media activist Khaula Chaudhry was sent to jail on judicial remand after being presented before a local court in a case related to an anti-state tweet.
According to court proceedings, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) produced Khaula Chaudhry before Duty Judge Abdul Sattar in Rawalpindi. The investigation officer sought a five-day physical remand, which the court declined.
FIA Assistant Director Zeeshan appeared before the court and submitted the agency’s request for custody. After reviewing the case, the duty judge rejected the FIA’s plea and ordered that the accused be sent to jail on judicial remand.
Khaula Chaudhry, a PTI social media activist, had been arrested in connection with a tweet allegedly critical of state institutions.
