Electricity consumers across the country may face an additional burden of Rs8.1 billion as a result of a proposed increase in electricity tariffs under the quarterly adjustment.
Sources divulged on Saturday that the request for higher electricity prices includes capacity payments, operation and maintenance costs, and transmission line losses.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) is scheduled to hold a hearing on November 6 to consider the application submitted by power companies. A final decision is expected following the proceedings.
