The Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has issued stringent directives against Aleema Khan, ordering the seizure of her guarantor’s property, and the freezing of her bank accounts after she failed to appear in court despite the issuance of an arrest warrant.
The case pertains to a protest held on November 26, registered at the Sadiqabad Police Station under charges related to public disorder and violations of the law.
During the hearing presided over by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah, the court noted that Aleema Khan had not complied with the arrest warrant previously issued for her appearance. As a result, the judge ordered that her guarantor’s property be attached to the government as a penalty for failing to ensure her presence.
Additionally, the court directed the director general of NADRA to block Aleema Khan’s national identity card, while instructing the DG Passport to block her passport to prevent her from leaving the country.
State Bank told to freeze all accounts
In a further move, the court instructed the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan to freeze all bank accounts held by Aleema Khan. The decision aims to ensure compliance with court proceedings and compel her attendance in the case.
Judge Amjad Ali Shah remarked that “the accused is present everywhere but does not appear in court,” emphasizing that her presence must be ensured at all costs.
The court has adjourned further proceedings until Monday, October 27, with clear directions for authorities to ensure her attendance at the next hearing.
