Residents of Swat and its surrounding areas felt moderate earthquake tremors on Wednesday, causing brief panic as people rushed out of homes and buildings.
According to initial data from the seismological center, the earthquake measured 4.5 in magnitude on the Richter scale.
Epicenter and depth
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Hindu Kush mountain range, a region known for frequent seismic activity due to tectonic movements along the Hindu Kush fault line.
The depth of the quake was recorded at 220 kilometers, which significantly reduced its potential surface impact despite being widely felt across the region.
No immediate reports of damage
So far, no casualties or property damage have been reported from Swat or adjoining districts. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and have advised residents to remain cautious in the event of aftershocks.
