Pakistan has been elected as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the 2026–28 term.
According to details surfaced on Tuesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the development and said the result highlighted Pakistan’s effective and active role within the United Nations. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing human rights across the world.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said Pakistan's election reflected the confidence of UN member states and recognised the country’s role in the promotion of human rights.
