The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant for Aleema Khan- sister of PTI founder Imran Khan - in a case registered at Sadiqabad police station related to the November 26 protest.
During the hearing, the court rejected Aleema Khan’s plea for one-day exemption from personal appearance and directed that she be indicted on October 11.
Prosecution raises objection
Prosecutor Zaheer Shah informed the court that the power of attorneys of Aleema Khan’s counsels — Muhammad Faisal Malik and Hasnain Sumbal — were not available in the case record.
He argued that without a valid power of attorney, the client-lawyer relationship cannot be established, and therefore, the lawyers cannot legally represent Aleema Khan in court proceedings.
The court fixed October 11 as the date for indictment proceedings, directing that Aleema Khan must appear in person before the ATC on the next hearing.
The case pertains to protests held on November 26, during which several PTI leaders and supporters were booked under anti-terrorism charges.
