The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has issued a stern warning against corporal punishment in federal educational institutions, directing schools and colleges to strictly enforce a zero-tolerance policy.
Letter issued to schools, colleges
A formal letter has been sent to the heads of all educational institutions in Islamabad, reminding them that corporal punishment in any form is strictly prohibited. The directive comes after reports and complaints of such practices, particularly from boys' schools.
Formation of action committees
According to the letter, every school and college must establish an action committee to ensure compliance with the ban. Institutions have been ordered to submit proof of committee formation by September 13.
Legal consequences for violations
The FDE has made it clear that any violation will invite strict legal action and fines. Heads of institutions have been warned that tolerance for such behaviour no longer exists, and accountability measures will be enforced.
