The price of flour has surged in Peshawar, with a sharp increase of Rs20 per kilogram, bringing the new rate to Rs420 per kilogram.
According to details surfaced on Thursday, the price has risen from Rs100 to Rs120 per kilogram in the retail market. Flour dealers have attributed the rise to a restriction imposed by the Punjab government on the supply of flour to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as wheat hoarding by the grain mafia.
Dealers have warned that if the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government does not contact Punjab to lift the supply restriction and fails to control wheat prices, the cost of flour will continue to rise.
