European Union (EU) high representative for foreign affairs Kaja Kallas called Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to express sympathy over the loss of lives caused by flooding in Pakistan.
According to details surfaced on Tuesday, Kallas expressed solidarity with the affected families and communities. She assured cooperation in Pakistan’s relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Dar thanked Kallas for the expression of solidarity and support. He briefed her on the scale of the flood damage.
Dar expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum in Pakistan–EU relations.
Both reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
EU pledges $350m in emergency aid for Pakistan’s flood victims
On the other side, the EU has announced emergency assistance of $350 million for those affected by recent floods in Pakistan. The aid will cover drinking water, sanitation facilities and cash support.
According to the EU announcement, the monsoon floods have caused large-scale damage across the country. Many people have lost their lives, while others remain missing.
The EU expressed sympathy with the families of the deceased and conveyed solidarity with the people of Pakistan in this difficult time. The aid package aims to address urgent needs and will be delivered through trusted partner organisations.
Life-saving health services form part of the assistance.

Earlier, the Gates Foundation, established by Microsoft founder Bill Gates, has pledged $1 million in aid to Pakistan flood victims.
According to details surfaced on Wednesday, the foundation will provide this support through the World Health Organization (WHO), which will allocate the funds to deliver medical assistance to 465,000 affected individuals across 33 flood-affected districts in all four provinces.
