The Supreme Court has dismissed a man's petition against his sister’s share in inheritance.
During the hearing, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan remarked that sisters cook meals and clean the house, and brothers take their services, so why they should be denied a rightful share in property.
Heading the two-member bench, Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi stated that the holy Quran clearly grants sisters a share in inheritance, and there can be no denial of this command.
He further noted that the property distribution documents did not even bear the sister’s signature.
The court ruled that the brother’s petition against his sister’s inheritance share stands dismissed.
