The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has submitted its recommendations to the government to address rising incidents of online financial fraud and other cybercrimes.
According to details surfaced on Sunday, the NCCIA underscored the need for a joint operational mechanism among key institutions, calling for enhanced coordination between the FIA, PTA, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and telecom operators. It proposed joint raids and coordinated actions to dismantle fraud networks.
Recommendations also included the establishment of a rapid reporting system and a framework for securing digital evidence. The agency emphasised the importance of timely investigation and legal action in cybercrime cases.
Sources divulged that the proposal advocates legal reforms and adjustments to the judicial system to meet evolving requirements. It also suggested identifying suspicious call traffic patterns and blocking illegal VoIP setups.
The NCCIA warned that fraudulent call centres could undermine public trust in Pakistan’s digital financial infrastructure. It declared the elimination of such centres essential for protecting citizens' economic well-being and advised launching public awareness campaigns to safeguard users from deception.
