Prince Harry and Prince William’s relationship remains strained, with experts warning that the rift between the royal brothers is now “worse than ever.”
According to royal commentator Duncan Larcombe, years of silence and public revelations have fueled the feud, leaving little room for reconciliation.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, Larcombe said: “There’s no doubt the feud between them is worse than ever, so much has happened and there has been so much betrayal and fury. The longer they don’t speak, the deeper the feud will get.”
He pointed to Harry and Meghan’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey as the “first big blow,” highlighting how it broke royal tradition by openly criticizing the monarchy, including King Charles and Prince William.
The release of Harry’s memoir Spare in 2023, which detailed private royal tensions, reportedly left William “furious” over what was seen as the betrayal of family secrets.
Kate and Meghan’s strained dynamic
The strained relationship extends beyond the brothers. Larcombe noted that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle’s frosty ties have further distanced the couples.
“Harry and Meghan have carved out their own existence in California, but they’re doing it for cash and to the highest bidder,” Larcombe said. “Meanwhile, William and Kate have been busy with duty, and haven’t cashed in on their status.”
Observers say the ongoing feud not only damages personal family ties but also poses challenges for the monarchy’s image. With Harry and Meghan forging a separate public identity in the U.S., and William preparing for his future role as king, the brothers’ estrangement is seen as a significant test for the royal family’s unity.
