The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing sales tax and federal excise duty returns for the year 2025, giving taxpayers additional time to comply with filing requirements.
New deadline announced
According to an official notification issued on Friday, taxpayers can now file their returns until August 26, 2025. Earlier, the deadline was set for August 18.
The extension aims to facilitate taxpayers who were unable to complete their filing within the original timeline.
Sales tax payment remains mandatory
While the filing date has been extended, the FBR clarified that taxpayers must still ensure timely payment of their sales tax liabilities. Authorities stressed that only those who pay their dues within the prescribed period will be able to benefit from the extension.
