The Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz-led Punjab government on Monday raised the official price of sugar by Rs2 to Rs175 per kilogram.
According to market updates, the Punjab administration increased the official rate of sugar following recent supply improvements. In major wholesale markets, the government’s fixed price is being implemented.

However, many retailers in local neighborhoods continue to sell sugar above the notified price, leaving consumers frustrated as enforcement lags behind.
Pending meeting on sugar supply issues
A key meeting between the Sugar Mills Association and the Cane Commissioner has yet to take place.

The agenda includes reviewing measures to stabilize supply and ensure that official prices are followed across all markets.
Administration plans stricter monitoring
The local administration has announced steps to expand the number of registered sugar dealers for better monitoring.
