Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and widespread destruction caused by flash floods triggered by cloudbursts and heavy rains in the Malakand and Hazara regions.
In a video statement on Friday, the CM confirmed that two provincial government helicopters were deployed for rescue missions. One of them tragically crashed due to bad weather, resulting in the martyrdom of five crew members.
Rescue and relief operations in full swing
Gandapur said the district administrations, provincial departments, and rescue agencies are working round the clock to evacuate stranded residents, search for missing persons, and provide emergency relief. Heavy machinery has been deployed to clear blocked roads and restore access to affected areas, including Bajaur, Battagram, and Buner, where lives and property have been severely impacted.

The entire situation is being monitored from the control room at the Chief Minister’s House, with all affected and neighbouring districts placed on high alert.
Commitment to rehabilitation
The CM assured that the provincial government will fully repair the damage caused by the disaster and will not leave the victims alone in their time of need. “We stand with our people in this hour of difficulty,” Gandapur said, urging citizens to take precautionary measures and cooperate with authorities.
Appeal for unity and cooperation
Gandapur called on elected representatives to remain in the affected areas and coordinate with local administrations to speed up rescue and relief work. He prayed for the departed souls, wished a swift recovery for the injured, and pledged that “Inshallah, we will overcome this situation together very soon.”
Rains, flash floods and cloudburst have killed at least 256 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir's (AJK).

According to details, the PDMA has issued an initial report of the havoc caused by the flash floods and rain in various districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 189 people killed and 21 injured in various incidents during the last 24 hours.
Out of the total number, 163 men, 14 women and 12 children were killed. According to the PDMA, 38 houses were partially damaged, whereas seven houses destroyed completely.

The incidents reported in Swat, Buner, Bajaur, Torghar, Manshera, Shangla and Battagram. Meanwhile, Bajaur and Battagram have faced more damage due to the inclement weather. The KP CM has urged the concern authorities to speed up their activities in this regard.
The PDMA said that Rs500million have been issued for the areas mostly affected by floods. Rs150million has been allocated to Buner, whereas Bajaur, Battagram, and Manshera have been given Rs100 million each. Rs50 million would be given to Swat.
