Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah on Thursday said an intelligence-based targeted operation was being carried out against terrorists in Bajaur.
Speaking to the media after a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Civil Secretariat, he said some residents from certain villages in Bajaur had relocated for their safety.
He added that the provincial cabinet had approved Rs5 billion in funds for those affected by the operation and expressed hope that peace would soon be restored in the area.
Shahab Ali Shah said terrorism was the work of militants, while the duty of security forces was to stop them.
He noted that the current situation in the merged districts was influenced by developments in neighbouring countries.
