The Lahore district administration has declared Friday, August 15, a public holiday to mark the annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA), one of the most revered saints in the region.
Holiday notification issued
A formal notification issued by the district administration confirmed that all government offices, educational institutions, and public departments within Lahore district will remain closed on the day.
The annual Urs of Hazrat Ali Hajveri, popularly known as Data Sahib, draws thousands of devotees from across Pakistan who gather at his shrine in Lahore to pay homage.

Last week, the Sindh Education Department had announced that all government and private educational institutions across the province would remain closed on Friday, August 15, in observance of the chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
According to an official notification, the holiday applies to all schools, colleges, and universities in Sindh. The decision has been taken to mark the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), a day of mourning observed by millions across the world.

The Islamabad district administration also declared a local holiday in the federal capital on August 13.
According to a notification issued by ICT District Magistrate Irfan Nawaz Memon, August 13 has been declared a local holiday within the revenue limits of Islamabad.
The notification clarified that essential services and institutions will remain operational during the holiday, including the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), Capital Development Authority (CDA), ICT Administration, ICT Police, Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), and all hospitals.
