A case has been registered against Bahria Town administration for alleged illegal land filling and plotting near the bank of Soan River.
The First Information Report names Ali Riaz, Chief Executive Officer of Bahria Town, as a key accused. Others named include Deputy Chief Executive Muhammad Ilyas, Engineer Muhammad Saleem and General Manager of Customer Support Chaudhry Jameel.
According to the complaint, Bahria Town, under the direction of Ali Riaz, carried out land filling along Soan River and initiated illegal plotting. The FIR alleged that sewage and chemically contaminated water from the housing society has been discharged directly into the river.
The complaint also stated that the administration launched unlawful promotional campaigns for instalment plans and began selling plots without due approvals.
Authorities have deemed the encroachment along Soan River a violation of established regulations. The FIR mentions that several notices were issued earlier to the Bahria Town management regarding unauthorised plotting and advertisement.
The Rawat Police raided Bahria Town’s Phase 8 office and arrested Engineer Muhammad Saleem. The case has been registered on the complaint of RDA Scheme Inspector Imran Hussain Jafri under five different provisions of the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976.
The FIR said that the accused continued to mislead the public and operate in violation of the amended Punjab Development of Cities Act.
