Five police officers martyred, two injured in dacoit attack on Sheikhani check post in Rahim Yar Khan
Armed dacoits attacked the Sheikhani police check post in Rahim Yar Khan, martyring five police officers and injuring two others.
According to police, the assault was carried out by members of the Indhar and Bukhirani gangs. The attackers used rocket launchers and hand grenades during the assault. At the time of the incident, seven officers were on duty at the post.
The bodies of the martyred officers have been shifted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital. Police said three of the martyrs were from Bahawalnagar and two from Rahim Yar Khan. The martyred officers were identified as Irfan, Saleem, Khalil, Ghazanfar, and Nakhil.
A search operation has been launched in the area to track down the attackers.
CM Maryam expresses grief over martyrdom of Elite Force cops in Rahim Yar Khan
RAHIM YAR KHAN – Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of five Elite Force personnel in an attack on the Sheikhani police check post in Rahim Yar Khan.
In her statement, the chief minister offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyred officers, identified as Irfan, Saleem, Nakheel, Khalil, and Ghazanfar. She paid tribute to their sacrifice and said the Punjab Police officers had fulfilled their duty of protecting the public by laying down their lives.
Maryam Nawaz reiterated her commitment to bringing the ongoing operation against dacoits in the riverine area to its logical conclusion. She vowed that the crackdown on terrorists and criminal elements would continue with full force.
The chief minister assured that the families of the martyred police personnel would not be left alone and that the provincial government would stand firmly with them.
