A Hyderabad-bound IndiGo flight 6E 6591 faced a technical glitch shortly after takeoff from Tirupati, forcing it to circle in the air for around 40 minutes before returning to the airport.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening when the flight took off but encountered a technical issue that prompted the pilots to initiate a precautionary hold in the airspace. The aircraft safely landed back at Tirupati Airport at 7:55 pm.
IndiGo authorities confirmed that the decision to return was made purely as a safety measure. Passengers were later accommodated on an alternative flight to Hyderabad.
An investigation into the cause of the technical malfunction is underway. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew, and safety protocols were strictly followed, airline officials said.
