The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to expand the Punjab cabinet following a proposal given by the party president, Nawaz Sharif on Sunday.
Sources divulged, a key consultative meeting of the PML-N’s central leadership took place in Donga Gali, Murree, where the Sharif family held detailed discussions on the country's political issues and pressing public concerns.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and former chief minister Hamza Shehbaz.
At Nawaz's suggestion, the leadership agreed to proceed with an expansion of the provincial cabinet. 10 new ministers and advisers are expected to be inducted, with a majority drawn from South Punjab.
Sources said that Nawaz has been residing in the Bagh-e-Shaheedan area of Murree for the past three days.
At the invitation of the prime minister, Nawaz, CM and Hamza convened at Donga Gali, where they reached a consensus to finalise the list of candidates for the new cabinet posts.
The shortlist of names will be prepared jointly by Nawaz and CM Maryam, with formal announcements to follow after final consultations.
