The body of police officer Haider, who was swept away while rescuing citizens trapped in floodwaters, was recovered during the ongoing rescue operation on the second day, authorities confirmed.
According to police, Haider was assisting in the evacuation of residents stranded by flash floods in Jhelum when he was carried away by the strong current.
Rescue teams have so far moved 30 more individuals to safety, bringing the total number of rescued people to 498 since the flooding began, the rescue in-charge said.
The water flow in Nala Gahan and Nala Banhan has receded, but several areas remain submerged, and rescue efforts are ongoing.
The most affected areas include Khurd, Darapur, Jamrghal, Rajror, Bhimber, Rasoolpur, Chakri, and Wag, where many residents are still stranded, according to rescue officials.
