The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a flood warning from July 21, in response to rising water levels in the province’s eastern rivers and the potential for flooding.
River water flow forecast for the next 24 hours is as follows:

A high-level flood is expected at New Rasool on the River Jhelum.

A moderate-level flood is expected at Mangla.

Urban flooding is likely in the Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad divisions.

A low-level flood is expected at Tarbela, Kalabagh, and Chashma Barrage on the River Indus.
A PDMA spokesperson stated that flooding may occur in rivers from July 21 onwards. The commissioners in Lahore, Sahiwal, Multan, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur and Faisalabad, along with Deputy Commissioners in Jhelum, Rawalpindi, Attock, Gujrat, Sargodha, Khushab, Jhang and other relevant districts, have been instructed to remain on high alert.
The PDMA has directed Rescue 1122 to make all necessary preparations in advance. Relevant departments, including local government and irrigation authorities, have also been placed on alert.
PDMA Director General Irfan Kathia has instructed the concerned administrative bodies to complete all arrangements as per the Chief Minister’s directives. The emergency control rooms and disaster response teams of Rescue 1122 must remain on alert, maintain adequate supplies of petrol and diesel, and ensure that the public remains informed.
Authorities have also been directed to make arrangements for the evacuation of residents and livestock from riverbeds where necessary.
