A major terrorist attack struck Mastung on Tuesday as terrorists stormed the tehsil office, three private banks and offices, setting vehicles on fire and opening indiscriminate fire, which led to civilian casualties and a fierce gun battle with security forces.
According to Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, the attack was swiftly responded to by a heavy contingent of police and security forces, who cordoned off the area and engaged the terrorists in a firefight.
“The terrorists attacked the tehsil office, banks, and surrounding government buildings. Security forces surrounded the area immediately and repelled the attackers,” Shahid Rind said.
During the exchange of fire, two terrorists were killed, and three others were injured. A child passing by lost his life, and seven others sustained injuries due to the terrorist firing.
The attackers also set three vehicles on fire within the tehsil office compound.
Initial reports from police sources confirmed that one terrorist was neutralized at the scene, and a search and clearance operation was promptly launched in the surrounding areas to track down any remaining assailants and their facilitators.
