A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck off the coast of Northern Chile region on Friday, the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) said.
The quake was at a depth of 104 km (64.62 miles), GFZ said.
This seismic activity comes on the heels of a powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck the southern coastal regions of Chile and Argentina just last month.
The quake, centered near Cape Horn close to Antarctica, occurred at a shallow depth of only 10 kilometers (6 miles). It triggered several aftershocks and led Chilean authorities to issue a tsunami warning for the country's southernmost areas, according to AFP.
