The metropolis is bracing for a spell of hot weather over the weekend, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting temperatures to exceed 37 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.
According to the Met Office, Karachi recorded a maximum temperature of 36.9°C on Friday, with intense sunlight contributing to the rising heat. A minimum temperature of 21.1°C was recorded in the early morning hours, while low wind speeds in the afternoon further exacerbated the warm conditions.
The PMD’s Early Warning Center has cautioned that hot and dry conditions are likely to persist over the weekend, as northwesterly winds from Balochistan are expected to sweep through the city during the morning hours.
However, sea breezes are anticipated to become active later in the day, providing some relief.
Despite the high temperatures, the weather department has noted that relatively low humidity levels may prevent a significant increase in the heat index. Karachi’s humidity stood at 86 percent on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, most parts of Sindh are expected to remain warm and dry over the coming days, with no significant weather activity forecast for the province.
Meteorologists have advised residents to take necessary precautions against the heat and stay hydrated, as temperatures continue to rise across the region.
