Pakistani security forces have conducted a widespread anti-narcotics operation across the country, resulting in substantial drug seizures and arrests. The initiative, launched in September 2023, aims to combat drug trafficking and abuse in Pakistan.
According to official reports, authorities have confiscated 1,052.470 metric tons of narcotics and apprehended 1,967 drug dealers since the operation began. The campaign is a joint effort by the government and military leadership to address the growing concern over drug-related issues in the nation.
Provincial breakdown of seizures in September reveals:
- Balochistan: 839 kilograms
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 67.272 kilograms
- Gilgit-Baltistan: 28.437 kilograms
- Punjab: 317.728 kilograms
- Sindh: 189.996 kilograms
Relevant agencies have expressed their commitment to continuing these operations until Pakistan is completely free from the influence of narcotics. The ongoing crackdown demonstrates the authorities' determination to tackle the drug problem at its source.
