A new spell of monsoon rains is expected in the upper and central parts of Pakistan from August 13 to 15, with rain and thunderstorms likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued alerts for flash floods, urban flooding and landslides during the period. Rain with thunderstorms is expected in several parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, while strong winds and dust storms are also forecast in central Punjab.
The NDMA has warned of flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Urban flooding is also feared in parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The risk of flooding in local streams and landslides in hilly areas has prompted authorities to remain alert.
Sialkot, Lahore, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Mardan and Swabi are among the areas where urban flooding is feared.
Residents and tourists have been advised to remain cautious. Most parts of Sindh and Balochistan are expected to remain hot and humid.
