Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused the United States of repeatedly making strategic miscalculations because of intelligence failures, including in its decision to launch war against Iran.
In a post on X, Araghchi said Washington's actions in the Strait of Hormuz represented an even greater miscalculation.
“Worse than fake news is fake intelligence,” the Iranian foreign minister said.

His comments came amid heightened tensions surrounding the strategic waterway, through which a significant share of global energy supplies passes.
Araghchi accuses France of double standards
Araghchi also sharply criticised France over its position on human rights and international law.
He said countries such as France should stop lecturing other nations about human rights and international law, accusing Paris of applying double standards.
The Iranian foreign minister described what he called France's “double standard” as “blatant and embarrassing”.
Araghchi accused France of supporting Israel during the war in Gaza while also backing what he described as aggression against Iran.
He said France's positions had undermined whatever moral authority it believed it held on issues of human rights and international law.
The remarks come as Iran continues to challenge Western governments over their policies toward Tehran and the wider conflict in the region.
