Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Oman and Türkiye, during which they discussed the overall regional situation and recent developments concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Araghchi warned both leaders that if the United States takes more military action, Iran reserves the right to give an appropriate response.
Iran to respond firmly to aggression
Araghchi said Iran is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security, and will respond firmly to any aggression.
He said the US position was a violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, adding that Washington was moving away from its commitments and following a policy of confrontation, which could further increase tensions in the region.
The Iranian foreign minister stressed that diplomatic efforts and responsible measures for regional stability were essential in the current situation.
