In the north-eastern French town of Tomblaine, a light aircraft has crashed, leaving 11 people dead.
The local authorities confirmed that all those on board, including the pilot, were killed in the incident. Among the victims were five students and five trainee instructors.
Local media reported that the aircraft belonged to a parachute training school and had taken off from Nancy-Essey aerodrome before crashing shortly afterwards.
French Interior Ministry officials stated that the Interior Minister was en route to the crash site to supervise rescue and investigation work and to review the ongoing response operations.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the crash, while a technical inquiry has been opened into the incident.
