Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Islamabad and several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, creating panic among residents.
People in many areas rushed out of homes and shops while reciting the Kalima Tayyaba and verses from the Holy Quran.
Strong earthquake tremors were reported in Islamabad and its surrounding areas. The shocks were also felt in Hassan Abdal and nearby localities, as well as in Kallar Syedan, Kahuta and adjoining areas.
Several KP districts jolted
Earthquake tremors were felt across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Malakand, Mansehra, Torghar, Swat, Dir and Mardan.
Tremors were also reported in Parachinar, Khyber’s Landikotal and surrounding areas, Buner, Chitral, Shangla, Nowshera, Battagram, Abbottabad, Kohat, Bannu and adjoining areas.
In Battagram, people came out of their homes and shops while reciting the Kalima Tayyaba.
Punjab cities also report tremors
Earthquake shocks were also felt across several districts of Punjab, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Mianwali, Multan and the Potohar region.
Tremors were reported in Taxila Cantt, Khushab, Malakwal, Safdarabad, Hafizabad, Bhera, Hassan Abdal, Kallar Syedan, Sangla Hill, Jhelum, Murree, and Gujar Khan. In Malakwal, citizens rushed out of their homes after the tremors. In Bhera, people came out of homes while reciting verses from the Holy Quran.

Strong tremors were also felt in Sangla Hill and nearby areas, where residents left their homes in fear while reciting the Holy Quran.
Residents in Nankana Sahib, Sargodha, Kallar Kahar, Kalabagh and Bhalwal also came out of their homes while reciting verses from the Holy Quran.
Tremors were also reported in Chiniot and surrounding areas. In Multan, the earthquake lasted for a few seconds, causing panic among residents. However, according to initial reports, no loss of life or property has been reported.
Earthquake intensity
The Meterological Department reported that the earthquake was recorded at a magnitude of 5.9 on Richter scale with a depth of 178km. Its epicentre was recorded at the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan.
KP Assembly session briefly adjourned
The earthquake was also felt during an ongoing assembly session. The deputy speaker adjourned the sitting for five minutes due to the tremors.

No immediate reports of major damage or casualties were provided in the initial reports.
Earthquake in Afghanistan
The earthquake was also felt in border areas of Afghanistan, including the capital, Kabul.
According to Reuters, the earthquake measured 6.0 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre located in the Hindu Kush mountain range.
