Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has dismissed a claim that Italy assisted in United States and Israeli military operations against Iran, made by Nato Secretary-General Mark Rutte.
Meloni denies Italy role in Iran conflict
Speaking at a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, Meloni rejected the allegation and said Italy did not take part in the conflict involving Iran.
'Italy has provided ‘technical and logistical’ support to US Army only'
She stated that Italy only provided the 'technical and logistical' support to the United States Army.
According to reports, Mark Rutte told Fox News that 500 American aircraft had departed from US bases located in Italy in connection with support for what Washington termed “Operation Epic Fury”, the joint US-Israel military action against Iran.
It is pertinent to note that Italy and France are seeking to strengthen diplomatic relations, following tensions between United States President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
