Italy's FM holds telephonic conversation with Araghchi
Italy has told Iran that it has never taken part in any military initiative and has not authorised the use of its bases for operations against Iran.
Italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani conveyed this position during a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Tajani noted Italy’s position during the call, reiterating that it has not participated in military initiatives and has not authorised the use of bases for actions against Iran, while respecting treaties with the United States. Tajani also sought the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to allow the passage of Italian cargo ships still blocked in the area.
He termed the reopening of the Italian embassy in Tehran as a strong signal of dialogue, with the potential to help restore economic and cultural relations. The statement was shared by Italy’s Foreign Minister on X.
