Pakistan's poor performance in the Women's T20 World Cup has prompted questions over the team's internal environment, with sources claiming that player power had a significant influence within the squad.
Senior players accused of defying coaches amid team rift
Sources said on Wednesday that some players refused to follow the game plans set by the coaching staff during the tournament. Sources alleged that certain senior players attempted to bring junior teammates into their camp amid differences within the side.
Players said coaches would leave, team remain
Players were also reported to have held the view that coaches would eventually leave, while they would remain part of the team. Sources quoted the alleged remarks as: "We are the ones who will stay, while the coaches will leave."
The developments emerged despite a 50 per cent increase in the value of central contracts awarded to women cricketers.
