Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian praised on Wednesday the Pakistan’s role in promoting peace in the region, saying the country’s tireless efforts for peace reflect its values and rich culture.
President Pezeshkian visited Islamabad to thank Pakistan for its mediation efforts and acknowledged its contribution to regional stability and dialogue. He said he held consultations with Field Marshal Asim Munir, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

Pakistan peace efforts rooted in cultural traditions
In a post on X, Pezeshkian said Iran and Pakistan share deep common aspirations and hopes. He added that Pakistan’s persistent efforts to promote peace in the region are rooted in the country’s rich cultural traditions.

He said his visit was aimed at expressing appreciation for Pakistan’s mediation efforts and that talks with the Pakistani leadership covered ways to broaden mutual engagement.
Iran hails Pakistan’s role in peace and negotiation efforts
It is pertinent to note that during his visit to Pakistan on Tuesday, the Iranian president said Iran recognised Pakistan’s important role in promoting peace, development and prosperity. He also commended Pakistan’s contribution to the negotiation process.
Pezeshkian said recent developments had added a new dimension to the close relationship between the two countries.
He said discussions also covered bilateral ties and the regional situation. The Iranian president thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the invitation and expressed gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for their warm welcome and hospitality.
