Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on Wednesday that the agreement with the United States to end the Middle East war was “America’s declaration of defeat”.
‘Agreement result of Iranian strength’
Addressing a conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, Ghalibaf said the agreement was not the result of pressure or coercion, but the outcome of the resistance and strength of the Iranian nation.
Regional control of middle east security
He said security in the Middle East should be ensured by the countries of the region themselves, adding that only regional states should decide on security matters.
Ghalibaf said Iran was ready to cooperate with Gulf countries on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.
He said Iran had never interfered in the internal matters of regional countries.
The Iranian speaker said the importance of a ceasefire in Lebanon was as significant as a ceasefire in Iran.
Earlier, during a media interaction after arriving in Baku, Ghalibaf said regional conditions had changed after the war and Iran should now be viewed differently.
